Diane at Bibliophile By the Sea asks us to share the first paragraph of a book we are reading. As you can see it’s called First Chapter, First Paragraph Tuesday Intros. As readers we are often captivated or turned away by that first paragraph or two. Let’s see what you think about the first paragraph of my current read.
I always like to read at least one light-weight Christmas story during the season. The title of this one intrigued me. It features a 72-year-old woman. It’s The Christmas Grandma Ran Away by Nancy Warren and here’s the first paragraph:
“I’m not cooking a turkey this year,” Sandy Forbes told her son, Michael, over the phone. She was trying out the words to see how they’d sound. They sounded good to her.
Not so good to Michael.
“What are you talking about, Ma? You always cook a turkey at Christmas.”
“Well, I’m not doing it this year.” She referred to the yellow pad on which she’d done her calculations. “I’ve cooked fifty-five Chrismas turnkeyus in my time, That’s one a year since my moher died when I was sixteen years old. I don’t want to cook one this year.”
What do you think?

I can relate to this kind of rebellion! Thanks for sharing…and for visiting my blog.
