Favorite Places: Looking Out the Window

Favorite Places
is my chance to show you some of the places we have visited in our travels. We have been parked at our son’s in Northern California since last November. We are going to stay parked here in their big side yard for the rest of the year. It’s make me antsy for the open road. So in looking at my library of photos, I’ve been drawn to those I took out the window. Here’s a little sample:

Sometimes there’s just not enough room to pull over and the sight is just too gorgeous to pass up. Here we were passing the salt flats in Utah.

And sometimes the picture in the rear view mirror is as awesome as the picture up ahead.

What’s on that truck up there?

Oh my gosh, it’s one of the NASCAR guys!

It’s Kyle Busch!

I don’t like the look of those clouds up ahead. Up in these mountains it could be snow.

(Yes, I’m the one who worries about these things.)

After a treacherous driving day, nothing looks so good as the RV Park even if it’s in the middle of nowhere.

I hope you’ll join me again next week when I’ll show you another Favorite Place. Please check the comment section to see if others have posted a Favorite Place. Please follow their links and say hello.

  1. Hi Margot. I love your drive-by photos! Especially that rear-view mirror one — that’s a great idea that I am quite tempted to steal sometime! My Favorite Place this week is also a flashback to another road trip: http://travelingrainvilles.typepad.com/traveling_home/2010/05/friday-flashback-favorite-places-favorite-skies.html.

    Thanks for sharing!

Love your pics, and I too found the rear view mirror shot the best one. These made me remember the last time I drove to Arizona. I was in Illinois celebrating one aunt’s birthday when my other living aunt had a stroke and needed me, so I just drove on west. Dave would have hated it, but I loved every minute of that drive, a more comfortable echo of our every-3-year trips to AZ via Rt. 66 when I was a child. This is such a great country!
