Corduroy Mansions: An Update

CordoroyMansions

Some of you may recall that I’ve been following the serialized story of Alexander McCall Smith. It’s the second volume of Corduroy Mansions. This one is called The Dog Who Came In From The Cold. I’m meeting all sorts of interesting people in this volume. In addition all sorts of things are happening.

FreddieIn my last update, I was telling you that someone from M16 has called upon William French. Did M16 want to recruit William? Frankly, I didn’t think he’d make a very good spy. He’s not very discreet.

It turns out they want Freddie de la Hay, William’s dog. What did the intelligence agency want with a Pimlico terrier? They want him to be a spy, of course. Freddie doesn’t actually know he’s spying. He just knows he’s in a different place and wearing a very heavy collar.

DeeI’m also liking the part of the story about Dee. She is a flat-mate of Caroline’s. At first I wasn’t so sure about Dee’s ethics. She went out to dinner with Caroline’s boyfriend and then lied about it. Caroline’s boyfriend cleared it all up, but now I’m not caring so much for the boyfriend.

But, back to Dee. She owns a health food/vitamin supply store and is looking for ways to increase sales. She contacted a venture capitalist who turned out to be a really good looking guy. When she pitched him her idea over cups of peppermint tea, he was smiled broadly. Her idea? Bottled Sudoku Enhancer.

It’s not too late to join in on the fun of this serialized novel. There’s still a lot of the story to go. To either read or listen to the story go HERE.

For my last update go HERE.
