It’s Teaser Time: The Bourne Deception

tuesdaywhereareyouIt’s Tuesday . . . Where are you? is a meme sponsored by Adventures in Reading.

I am all over the world in this book. I’m in Bali, Washington D.C., Egypt, to name a few. I’m looking for the person who wants to assassinate Jason Bourne. I’m also looking for the person who shot down an American passenger plane. Could they be the same person?

I’m reading Robert Ludlum’s The Bourne Deception by Eric Van Lustbader. From the same book, here a a couple of teaser sentences.

Seconds after Bourne took the phone, Hererra’s young man had stolen into the room. Now he pressed the muzzle of a Beretta Px4 90 mm pistol to Tracy’s left temple. She was wide-eyed, sitting painfully erect at the edge of the sofa.

  • Used to be great fan of Ludlum books. Should I look out for this sequel? I look forward to your review before I decide.

    Like the teaser though.

  • Well you are certainly having an exciting time again this week – enjoy!

  • I enjoyed the Bourne movies – I ought to give the books a try!

    My teaser is here.

  • I’m embarrassed to say that I didn’t know that the Bourne movies was based on a series of books. I really enjoyed the movies and I’m looking forward to the the one coming out in 2011.

  • I love thrillers. Was this one made into a movie?

    Here’s mine:

  • Now that’s a teaser! I read several of Ludlum’s books many years ago.

  • I love the Jason Bourne books. I am here

  • I must admit, I felt deceived when I saw a Bourne book by another author than Ludlum! There’s not been a thriller that caught my attention as much as The Bourne Identity, and I don’t want to spoil that remembrance. ;)

Your header is great; it must be wonderful to have time that retirement gives!

  • A friend of mine on Goodreads absolutely despised the Bourne Betrayal by this same author. I don’t know if it was really that bad or the bar was just set so high by Ludlum that any comparison would pale. So I am skeptical.

  • My mother introduced me to the Bourne books years ago, and I believe I bought one of the Lustbader books for her for Mother’s Day. She said it was pretty good, so maybe I’ll have to give it a try here in the near future (meaning sometime this year ;) .

As for where I was this Tuesday, I was on ZZyzx Road.

  • Very nice teaser! I’ve been meaning to read these books – I’ve had the first three since I graduated high school about 6 years ago.

  • Great teaser! I haven’t read the books but I love the movies!

  • I used to enjoy Ludlum’s novels a few years ago as quick, reliable action fixes. It will be interesting to hear if you think this one holds up in the same way.

  • Hm. I don’t know. It’s hard for me to imagine someone else writing Bourne’s story. I’m curious whether he’s following Ludlum’s storyline, or tailoring the books more toward the movies (which really, really diverged from the books, which is why I love the books and don’t like the movies much).

Anyway, if I pretend I don’t know the background of all the Bourne books, and don’t bring that baggage with me — I really like the teaser. Heehee!

Meanwhile, my own teaser is at Bookishgal

  • Yikes!!! Don’t stop there!

Hi. I have watched the 3 Jason Bourne movies so far and I have become a fan. I never read those books. But now after having watched the 3 movies, I am so impressed, I have now bought the latest in the series: Bourne Sanction.

I have merely finished about first 120 pages and I must admit that nothing gives me more pleasure than reading the book and imagining Matt Damon doing the action scenes.

One other great feature of this book is that it does not require one to read previous books of this series (from my personal experience). So you can go ahead and directly start reading this book and I am Dam(o)n sure you’ll enjoy.
