Wondrous Words #389

WWWEvery week word-lovers post new words they’ve discovered while reading. It’s called Wondrous Words Wednesday and was created by Kathy at Bermuda Onion’s Weblog.

While reading the New York Times Book Review I found a book I want to read AND a word that I swear I should know.

prescient: “Exit West, [Mohsin Hamid’s] prescient new novel about the world of migrants, of refugees, of scattered, frightened and brave nationless people roaming the world in search of some notion of home, has somehow landed on shelves at the moment the world’s eye has turned to the issue of migration.

Prescient has to do with foreknowledge – the concept of knowledge regarding future events.

That’s all I have this week. Don’t forget to visit Kathy for more Wondrous Words Wednesday.

  1. This is a new word to me and I see that, had I broken the word down, I might have been able to figure it out. Thanks for playing along, Margot!
