Wondrous Words #216
Thanks for stopping by to see what new words I discovered this week. I usually find new words wherever I happen to be reading. This week I found “newish” words while reading a classic Romance novel: Nobody’s Baby But Mine by Suzanne Elizabeth Phillips.
1. dendrobium: “Ethan nodded toward the table’s centerpiece, a crystal vase holding an arrangemnt of lilies and dendrobium.”
I figured dendrobium was some kind of flower, but nothing I was familiar with. A dendrobium is a type of orchid. Quite beautiful
2. truculence: “His truculence faded, and one corner of his mouth – the uninjured corner – curled.”
Truculence refers to someone who is eager or quick to argue or fight.
