I’m still alive and doing fine. I’ve had a bad case of the sluggies. I feel sluggish when it comes to my online life. First it was my hand, but now I’m blaming the weather (105 yesterday). Primarily, I just want to read. Of course, then I get behind on writing reviews. Oh well. Don’t worry, I’ll get over my case of the sluggies.
We have been out doing things. One thing both my husband and I have become involved in is a Senior Writing Proect. The project is part of the senior center in nearby Healdsburg. We participate in both a memoir group and a creative writing group.
We joined about six months ago but the group has been going for about two years. They have done so well that they just published a book of their work. We attended the launch party last Saturday. It was so much fun hearing the writers share some of their stories and getting autographs. I’ll share more about the book and this group later this week.
Here in this little town of Windsor they hosted a Hot Air Balloon event this weekend. It all happens early in the morning – 5 to 7 am – so you really have to be motivated. Fortunately, I woke up early this morning, but as I came out the door there were already two balloons floating by.
The balloons launch in a park about two miles away so our son’s back deck is the perfect viewing area. Although there are thirty balloons involved, they don’t all go up at once. Three was the most I could capture at one time. I especially love the specially shaped balloons. The one above, according to the program, is called Party Panda. I think it looks more like a cartoon dog. There’s another one that looks like Nemo that was so cute. I hope you have a chance to see a Balloon Fest someday. It’s an amazing sight.
School finished last week for my eldest daughter and her two daughters. I know they are happy to have a well-earned vacation. They are planning to come from Portland and visit in a few weeks. I’m very excited about that.
I hope everything is going well in your world. Here in my world I’ll keep working on my sluggies.
