A group of people who run the Online MBA website often develop awards for various things. This past week they decided to name the Top 25 Retirement Blogs and they added Joyfully Retired to the list. As we used to say back in the 1950s, “Cool!”
The other 24 blogs on the list are written by ordinary people like me. Several talk about financing your retirement. One person has gorgeous photos. There’s one that talks primarily about wine. I didn’t see anyone else who talks mostly about the books she reads. If you are interested in reading the other blogs, here is the list: Top 25 Retirement Blogs.
I don’t actually consider myself a retirement blogger. I don’t talk much about the benefits of retirement or try tell people where to retire or how much money they need. But there is one thing that I hope comes across in my blog:
It is an absolute pleasure, after decades of work, to get up whenever I feel like it and say, “What do I feel like doing today?” If the answer is nothing, that’s okay. If the answer is to travel to some new place, that’s okay too. If the answer is to sit in a special chair (or in bed) and read, that’s really okay. No one is telling me what or when to do anything. It’s such a joy.
I honestly hope you have the ability to experience this special time in your life. Thanks to the people at the Online MBA website for their vote of confidence.
