Do you find it distracting to read a book where a character shares your name? That always messes things up for me – especially if I dislike the character’s actions or personalities. I’m forever saying as I read – well I would never do anything like that!!!

I thought this one sounded like fun. I just finished a book where I’m going to recommend skimming the middle too!!!!!!!! I’m glad that the second part made the read worth it!

Thanks for sticking it out, Margot! It sounds like the book redeemed itself in the second half. I’ve been in situations like that (stuck in a storm) and it’s amazing how people really do bond under those kinds of conditions.

I do think women are remarkable in their ability to bond and to take action. I’ll probably skip this book, though, since the first half drags.

Wow, your first paragraph summarizing the plot sounded so good that I was surprised it turned out to be a drag – at least in the first half. Great premise though!

Yow, if I read half of it and it was dragging, I probably wouldn’t have continued. A book has to grab me at the beginning. An exciting book can lag a little in the middle as long as it picks up after that, but slow starters don’t sit well with me. Kudos to you for plodding on and finishing. I’m glad you liked the second half.

Margot, I kind of skimmed your post because I’m one of the stops on this tour in early August and I haven’t read it yet. I do usually like women’s friendship books, so I’m hoping it will strike a chord. Thanks for sharing!
