I (Tami) visited Ouray with my parents when I was in high school. Don't remember a thing about it except the narrow, winding road through the pass we had to take to get there. Dad commented that he thought the town was named because you want to shout "OURAY!" when you finally get to the bottom! :) Thanks for sharing.

The pools is heated by the hot springs there are many sections in the pool getting gradualy hotter or colder depending on which way you go. I remember this place fondly and really want to return. It was a wonderful place to camp and had so many fun things to do.

I love this!! I had thought of this wonderful place a few times recently... I must take the girls & Mark (we all love hot pools)! I wonder what time of year your photos were taken? I see snow on the mountains, but some parts look kind of brown. Thanks for reminding me of this beautiful Colorado town!

I love the fact that you highlighted Ouray this week, Margot. I'm a regular reader of your blog and favorite spots, by the way. We've been to Ouray several times. It's been a while though. I've been to that pool and once when we were there in May, we were snowed on as we sat in it. Yes, as Kathy surmised, it is heated by the springs, right? We stayed at the St. Elmo Hotel. wonder if it is still there. this was probably over 20 years ago. Thanks for some lovely memories!

I would love to go anywhere in Colorado! I'm guessing the pool is heated - maybe by the hot springs?

These are great pictures. I feel like I could be walking down those streets. I can see why you would list it as a favorite place.

I did enjoy seeing these photos, Margot. Nice to see it still has some unpaved streets, which gives a feeling of what it must have been like in the past.

This week I've posted photos of Bath.
