Favorite Places: The Desert of Arizona

grand-tetons-barn-2wtmkFavorite Places is the time each week I show you one of the places we have visited in our travels around North America. It has been so cold the last couple of weeks here in Northern  California that I felt the need to take another look at the desert, primarily the Arizona desert.

saguaroThis picture was taken at Saguaro National Park near Tucson.

Beside the beauty of the cactus, it was so quiet.

Our truck was the only noise in the place.

OrganPipeThis is a picture of an Organ Pipe Cactus taken in

the Organ Pipe National Park. It’s a small park located

right near the Mexican border in south central Arizona.

ArizDesertAnd this one I took at some unknown desert location.

All I know is that it just warms me up to look at it.

I hope you are warm wherever you are today.

I hope you’ll join me again next Sunday for more Favorite Places. If you’d like to join in, just grab the button at the top of this post, put it on your blog along with info about one of your Favorite Places. Come back and leave a link in the comment section and we’ll all come and visit you.

  • Well…that last photo of a Joshua tree pretty much narrows it down to somewhere in the Mojave Desert. Does that help any? ;)

There’s been a couple of mornings with a bit of ice in the bird baths here and highs in the low 60s, so we desert rats aren’t thinking it’s very warm!

  • Seeing these pictures and the ones that Cathy posts really make me want to go out west for a visit.

  • It’s very pretty and unique to VISIT; living here (as I do) is a different story! :–)

  • The blue in that last photo is gorgeous! It is freezing here with lots of rain. I’m hoping I don’t have to get out of my jammies all day :)
Oh, I’m trying your turkey tetrazini recipe today. I’ll let you know how it goes.

  • Thank you for the warming pictures. When I sat down in my office this morning the sleet was beating against my window. Now it’s quieter – snowing like mad. Since I don’t have to go out today, it’s beautiful.

  • Margot, those could have been my pictures — yours is one of our favorite areas as well. I see that you are chilly there in Northern CA just like we are here in Oregon. I re-posted my whole Sky City NM post for Sunday Favorites (because of the blue skies and because my Skywatch post last week didn’t do it justice). And I linked to your blog for Favorite Places.
I’m not sure how to put that link here in the comments box, but it is the top post.

  • Thanks for those pictures…living in Michigan this time of year I’ll take my warmth wherever I can find it!! That blue is gorgeous in pic #3!!

  • It’s really cold here in Toronto, so these warmed me up perfectly! I love your Favorite Places posts, Margot.

  • those are some great pictures! Looks like a lovely spot.

  • Love those shots on this snowy, snowy morning. I miss the Southwest.
