Favorite Places: Santa Claus, Indiana

grand-tetons-barn-2wtmk1Favorite Places is a weekly feature here. I like to show you some of the places we’ve visited in our travels. Today it’s a little town in south central Indiana, located just a few  miles off Interstate 64.

RavenWhat most people come here for is the amusement and water park called Holiday World. The park is well know for it’s two world class wooden roller-coasters and other fun family entertainment.

SantaAtLodgeAway from the park you’ll find a charming little town.

Drive around the few streets and you’ll see various replicas of the town’s namesake.

Above is a big one outside the lodge.

SantaAtMuseumHere’s a cute one at the Santa Claus Museum.

SantaCityHallOf course, you’d expect to see one at city hall.

SnowmanMy personal favorite is not a Santa at all. It’s this melting snowman.

It seems especially appropriate surrounded by

green grass on a hot sizzling day in the summer time.

SantaPOThe post office in Santa Claus, Indiana will be very busy the next few weeks. People from all over the place come here to mail their Christmas cards, just so the cards will show the Santa Claus postal mark.

So sometime, if you find yourself traveling through southern Indiana, check out the pleasant little village of Santa Claus.

I hope you’ll join me again next Sunday for more Favorite Places. If you’d like to join in, just grab the button at the top of this post, put it on your blog along with info about one of your Favorite Places. Come back and leave a link in the comment section and we’ll all come and visit you.
