Wondrous Words #42

wondrous2I found a couple of new words in my reading this week. They both came from Debbie Macomber’s The Perfect Christmas. (See my review here.)

This first word seemed familiar to me but I could not remember it’s meaning. I may have shared it on previous Wondrous Words Wednesday but I couldn’t find it.

1.  obsequious: His typical clients were probably more respectful, if not downright obsequious.

Obsequious means obedient or attentive to an excessive or servile degree.

2.  surfeit: “Only because there’s a surfeit of them at this time of the year.”

Surfeit means an excessive amount of something.

That’s my two new words for the week. What about you – did you find any new-to-you words?

Wondrous Words Wednesday is sponsored by Kathy of Bermuda Onion’s Weblog.
