I found a couple of new words in my reading this week. They both came from Debbie Macomber’s The Perfect Christmas. (See my review here.)
This first word seemed familiar to me but I could not remember it’s meaning. I may have shared it on previous Wondrous Words Wednesday but I couldn’t find it.
1. obsequious: His typical clients were probably more respectful, if not downright obsequious.
Obsequious means obedient or attentive to an excessive or servile degree.
2. surfeit: “Only because there’s a surfeit of them at this time of the year.”
Surfeit means an excessive amount of something.
That’s my two new words for the week. What about you – did you find any new-to-you words?

There’s a reason I didn’t know obsequious – no one around here is, not even the dog! Great words. Thanks for playing along once again.
Definitely a surfeit of eating this week!
I use surfeit a lot!
Here is my Wondrous Words Wednesday post!
I had heard of obsequious before and surfeit is neat sounding!
I must have looked up obsequious myself lately because it’s familiar. Have a great Thanksgiving!
Hi Margot,
It’s amazing the words we see and hear all the time, yet we don’t know the exact meaning of them. Thanks for sharing! Have a great day!
