My presence in the blogging world has been spotty the last few days. It’s going to get even spottier through the next week but it’s all for a good cause: All the family is gathering together and I want to spend as much time as possible with them all.
When I say ‘all the family’ I mean our children, their spouses, and our two grandchildren. (Our son-in-law, Mark, had to stay in Portland and work.) We are all gathered in Windsor, California at Christopher and Genevieve’s house. It will be a very full table on Thursday with plenty of thankfulness in our hearts.
On Friday my two daughters and granddaughters (that’s Candice, Cerrin, Q and Lou) and I will head south to Simi Valley to my mother’s house. We’re going to stay for a few days. At 89 my mom is still in her own home – with help. But she is in the first stage of dementia and we feel the need to connect with her as often as possible. With all these family activities I need to unplug the computer.
Beth Fish Reads and Devourer of Books have created the perfect challenge for me: the Blogger Unplugged Challenge. (For more information, go here.) It’s a terrific idea in which they encourage bloggers, like me, to stop for a while and do other things. It is definitely needed during the holidays. So, I have my posts pre-scheduled during the next week and I will be around occasionally. I just won’t be able to visit all the blogs on my Reader and make comments. But I’ll be back after the first week in December. See you then.

NORTHERN CALLIFORNIA
lol Well as part of the family we would be glad to have you unplugged for a bit.
Have a wonderful time with your family over the Holidays. We will all be here waiting when you get back!!!
What a great way to go unplugged! Go and enjoy your family and have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Great idea! I’ve been pretty much unplugged for the last few weeks to visit with my mom and it does remind you that while blogging is fun, it is great to take a break every so often and focus on your loved ones. Enjoy the break and see when you get back.
Enjoy the time with your family! We’ll see ya when you get back.
a good reason to be unplugged–have a lovely holiday.
They say the computer brings people closer together and allows us faster communication. That may be true but to really connect with someone you have to not be on the computer. Something I’m going to have to think about as the holidays roll around.
Enjoy!!! I’m unplugging every day this weekend after 10:00 a.m.
