Sunday is the day I like to share with you some of the places we’ve visited in our travels. The last few weeks we have been way Off The Beaten Path. I love it when we do that. It gives us an opportunity to see the small towns and villages and the open country you don’t get on the inter-states.

Some friends suggested the Gypsum Hills Scenic Byway coming across southern Kansas. I’m so glad they did. This is the kind of beauty lovers of the land can appreciate.
It’s the kind of area where you can see for miles.
If you get out and look closely, you’ll see the dirt is red.
Then you might also be surprised by passing cowgirls.
Don’t let anyone tell you that Kansas is all flatland.
There are plenty of hills and as much big sky as you can handle.
Yes, the sky really is that blue.
If you are looking on a map, the Gypsum Hills Scenic Byway is located in the south central part of Kansas. It runs from the town of Medicine Lodge until just before Dodge City. It is a unique beauty that won our hearts and made us add it to our list of Favorite Places.
I hope you’ll join me again next Sunday for another of our Favorite Places.

I like the name Medicine Lodge. I bet there’s an interesting story behind that one!
Thanks for sharing; I love this feature!
I love Kansas for many reasons, and I loved seeing these photos. You’re right, the sky really is that blue out there – and so expansive. Makes you feel so small and so big at the same time. Thanks for sharing!
I love the pictures that you share. I haven’t done too much traveling in my day. A bit, but not nearly enough. These pictures make me want to pack my bags and visit.
What beautiful scenery!
I love the Midwest! Lovely photos.
I’ve only driven through Kansas once and we took some scenic roads, but we passed a lot of smelly chicken or beef factories and the smell stayed in the AC til we got to Colorado. It was hard for me to appreciate the beauty when the smell was making me sick!
I’ve never been to Kansas but it pretty!!!
This part of Kansas is a wonder. Each time I have driven around the Medicine Lodge area I have had to stop and enjoy what God has given us. It always reminds me of parts of New Mexico.
thanks for the beautiful photos of Kansas. I could really go for a long drive, dreaming big dreams, looking out over the rolling hills and blue skies…
Beautiful! That first shot is just lovely, it’s like the road is just floating on the landscape.
I really miss the middle of the country. I would say mid-west but I am in Indiana and some people call this the Mid West…I dont get it just cause the state doesn’t touch the ocean were in the Mid West lol.
I miss Missouri and Kansas…looks like I need a road trip.
