Rebecca of Rebecca Reads is sponsoring The Spice of Life Challenge. The goal of this Spice of challenge is to read and review books about food and eating our way through a good life. It will run from July 1, 2009 until December 31, 2009
There are four categories of food books:
- Cookbooks
- Nonfiction books
- Memoirs, autobiographies, or essays
- Fiction
Participants can tackle this challenge in one of three levels of participation, depending on how many books you want to read. I’m going for A Feast. That means that I will fill myself with good food books of all kinds. I will read and review six to eight books from at least three of the above categories.
I’m gathering together my list of food books and I am open to suggestions. Thanks to my daughter Candice I recently found a new book that fits the cookbook category. To see it, scroll down to the post immediately following this one. (Jam It, Pickle It, Cure It) I hope you will consider joining in on this fun challenge. There’s still time.
Thanks so much to Kristen of BookN Around for going out of her way to tell me about this challenge.

NORTHERN CALLIFORNIA
I’m definitely tempted. Ooh, and I have a couple on my shelf that would fit in perfectly.
I’m not signing up for any new challenges until I complete at least one! (I haven’t managed to do that yet, but I’m getting close.) Good luck to you.
I am so tempted, Margot! But I’ve been just awful with my challenges – not that I haven’t been reading, but I keep forgetting to update my challenge posts and now I have a six month backlog of reviews and books-read to go through so I can update what I’ve done already!
I have a few recommendations for you, books about food that I just love. Not sure if you’ve read them yet, but here are a handful: Alone in the Kitchen with an Eggplant: Confessions of Cooking for One and Dining Alone (it’s a collection of essays by writers on dining solo), The Man Who Ate Everything and of course, all of Ruth Reichl’s memoirs!
Yeay! I’m so glad you joined! I look forward to seeing what you’ve decided to read.
This challenge would be perfect for Dani at Average Girl Reads – I’ll let her know, in case she’s not already participating.
I love the button! Good luck on this one:)
