It’s been a while since I’ve read anything by Jane Austin. Just as I was bemoaning that fact, I learned of the Everything Austen Challenge. It’s sponsored by Stephanie of Stephanie’s Written Word.
The challenge is do-able. It only lasts six months (July 1 to January 1). I only have to pick out six Austen-themed things to do to complete the challenge. They can be books, cd’s, movies or tv shows. Below is my list of possibilities. Don’t hold me to the exact list. I’d like to explore all the Austen possibilities. I will update my list as I go along.
1. Watch a movie version of Pride and Prejudice
2. Watch the Emma Thompson version of Sense and Sensibillity
3. Read Emma
4. Watch a movie version of Mansfield Park
5. Listen to The Jane Austen Book Club
6. A book, movie or tv show about Jane Austen’s life.
I hope you’ll join me in this challenge. To participate, click on the Jane Austen picture above for all the official details and to sign up. Stephanie also has a super list of Austen resources. If you would like to suggest one of your favorites for me to try, please leave a comment.

Isn’t this a fun challenge!!
This sounds like the perfect challenge for you. Have fun with it!
I really like the way you responded to the challenge. I have been afraid to do them because of not wanting to make a commitment to specific items, but your post has given me an idea of how to be more nonspecific about it.
Thanks so much for joining my challenge!
I’ve not read Mansfield Park so I don’t know how it compares to the book, but I love the most recent Mansfield Park with Frances O’Connor & Jonny Lee Miller. I’m in this challenge too
Great list! I was resisting this hallenge but I’ve seen so many great possibilities that I have to give it a go. The Emma Thompson Sense & Sensibility is lovely.
I wasn’t going to join any more challenges but I think I’ll make an exception for this one. I think my choices will be mainly reading rather than the TV or movie versions – or maybe not. I like challenges that are flexible like this one. I do hope you’ll read the Claire Tomalin bio – it’s so good. Carol Shields’s bio of Jane is also good if less detailed.
