Happy Birthday, Lou! It looks like your daughter and granddaughter also have the reading "bug," Margot :)

Charlotte's Web is a favorite around here, also. I remember reading it aloud to my daughter and son back when she was in Kindergarten. It was afternoon Kindergarten, and we'd have lunch, read for 20 minutes or so, then she'd get on the bus. It was a nice tradition.

What a beautiful picture -- that's one that will definitely be treasured by your granddaughter, just as she'll treasure the experience of having this book read to her. (Some of my fondest memories of childhood are of my mother reading to me.)

This book was introduced to me by my second grade teacher, and has been one of my favorites ever since. Such a beautiful story.

Happy Birthday Lou!

I first encountered this book as an adult when I bought it to read aloud to my sons. I was amazed at how insightful and humorous it was. Delightful!

I'm sure that I loved this as a child - I can't remember anything about it though - I'll have to remember to find a copy once my boys are a bit bigger.
