Today I going to tease you with one of the books I’m reading. Teaser Tuesday is sponsored by MizB at Should Be Reading. For more teasers click on the image to the right.
“Something had to change. I’d been the culinary equivalent of the Flying Dutchman too long, living a half-life with no future in mind, just oozing from sensation to sensation. I was in hiding, in a deep, dark hole, and it was dawning on me — as I cracked my oysters, and opened clams and spooned cocktail sauce into ramekins — that it was time, really time, to try to climb out.”
Those sentences are from Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain.
I’m using the same book to answer the question: It’s Tuesday, Where are you?
The place where I spend most of my time is the kitchen. I should say Kitchen with a capital K because, as a well-known chef, these Kitchens are not ordinary home kitchens. I’ve worked my way up from dishwasher to chef at some classy restaurants. But I’ve also done some stupid and self-destructive things I’m not proud of.

I love watching Anthony Bourdain. His book sounds interesting too!
My tease is at http://www.bookbirddog.blogspot.com
I haven’t read this one. Sounds intriguing though. I see you are reading Deliverance Dane. How are you finding the book? DO you like it? I finished it and just loved it.
I’m hungry
Hi Margot,
That sounds like an interesting book! I’ll have to check it out! Have a great day!

I read this a few years ago…a real eye-opener!
Great teaser, I know that feeling of wanting to climb out…
My teaser comes from Shelf Monkey.
I love this teaser especially the phrase “culinary equivalent of the Flying Dutchman”. I now really wont to read this book. Which I guess is the point of this meme.
Great teaser!!
yummmy. great teaser
I am here and my teaser too
I loved this book, which I read when it first came out. I can’t wait for your review.
That’s a great teaser! It even makes someone like me, who hates to cook, want to take a look at the book (but I’d still prefer to stay out of the kitchen).
I’ve never thought about reading a book by a chef other than a cookbook (not sure why that is). This sounds like an interesting book. I’ll have to check back to see what you thought of it.
Oh I LOVE Anthony Bourdain – my husband and I both enjoy watching his show. I didn’t know he had a book out.
Thanks for the teaser.
Here’s my Teaser! ~ Wendi
Makes cooking sound interesting.
