		<description>Wonderful review, Margot! Isn&#039;t there a movie based on this book? I used to watch a lot of Westerns (or that is, my parents did and I could peek into the living room from my top bunk, tee hee...).

I think it&#039;s fascinating that the women are more of an afterthought than main characters in this book. They obviously had a very important role to play in the success of western American expansion.

One of the first adult novels I remember reading was a Western called, &quot;Mary Dove&quot;. I&#039;ve been trying to get my hands on a copy for years *&lt;i&gt;sigh&lt;/i&gt;*.</description>
